Observation on Teacher

Horas !! Does anyone know what the teachers are in the Philippines? certainly on the curious about how the teacher was there? calm down, bro, don't be confused, because this time I will share my experience observing the teacher in my recipient's school. Let's take a look at the story hehe ...

Planning for teching

For Planning for Teaching as I explained before the teachers will prepare the DLL and Lesson plan first, and of course the teacher will also prepare the media needed to support teaching and learning activities that are in accordance with the learning material to be conducted. In preparation the teacher looks very dedicated because from the results of interviews that I did with one of the teachers, they also had thought about what methods were appropriate for them to do according to the topic they
were going to teach.

Preparing lesson and materials

In preparing lesson and material the teacher will be guided by the existing curriculum and syllabus, then by referring to this, then the teachers prepare the materials needed for teaching and learning activities. As we discussed earlier, the material is mostly prepared by the teacher itself, which is why in this case the teacher's activities and assignments will be very heavy, the teacher is required to be able to complete every required material, and the internet's role will be very influential to help the
teacher.

Teching in class

One of the things that amazed me was the role of the teacher in managing the class he was teaching. Of course it is not easy to deal with young people who are in a period of enthusiasm, but the skills and skills of teachers in controlling the classroom atmosphere are very great. The teacher also seemed to be actively moving and paying attention to each student during the learning process, very rarely did I see a teacher who just sat quietly. The teacher also always mentors students one by one and delivers the topic of discussion firmly but casually. It was an activity that could give me a very good impression about how to teach in the classroom well.

Measurement and Evaluation

There are 4 exams that must be passed by students in one level, because schools divide learning time into 4 quarters. Each quarter has its own test, but for determining the grade increase there will be a final quarter which will then be accumulated in the other quarter.

For student evaluation activities, the teacher usually provides a quiz to test how far the level of student understanding of a topic will be given at the end of the lesson. Not only that, students will also be given a number of exercises and routine tasks that must be collected to the teacher.

Teaching Plan

Horas !! I don't think our discussion is enough, hehe, but for sure my friends don't get bored reading my blog, because this time there is something interesting about teaching plan in the Philippines, surely my friends are curious. Yasudah just following the review.

Curriculum

MinSCAT High School Laboratory uses K 12 curriculum as a basis for teaching students. So, students must do 4 years in junior high school, namely grade 7, grade 8, grade 9 and grade 10. The teachers use the syllabus they download from the government website as their direction to teach students. In the K 12 curriculum, one year of study is divided into 4 quarters, namely the first quarter, second quarter, third quarter and fourth quarter.

Teaching plan related to your major

As long as I teach there, there are two teaching plans that I have to fill out before starting learning, this time I will discuss what learning plans we must fill.
The first is the Daily Lesson Plan or commonly referred to as the DLL. DLL is a short version of Lesson Plan, there only contains time and date, the material we will teach, the methods we use, and our activities in the classroom from the beginning to the end will be briefly explained.
The second is Lesson Plan, which is the full version. Where that contains in it such as the name of the school, learning material, achievement competencies, learning objectives, teacher and student activities during the class, methods and media of learning, learning resources, and assessment. Not much different from the one in my country, Indonesia, all explained in great detail for one lesson.

Pedagogical Contents

Horas !! Come back again on my blog. Hmmm this time we will tell you about what? This time I will share about the Pedagogical Contents that I got as long as I became a sudents teacher in the Philippines. This is it .

Teaching methods

The teaching methods used in this school are quite diverse, and almost different every day. Like one day when I was doing an observation in a class, a teacher seemed to give a topic to students and then made a drama story. Not only that, the students were asked to impose their plays in front of the class. This certainly becomes a special attraction and challenge for all students to learn according to the theme presented on that day. Another thing that is not less interesting is the quiz which is a competition for each group, the fierce struggle for value is the spirit that burns students to continue to improve their performance.

Learning materials and innovation

Because schools do not facilitate students' learning manuals, students only get learning material prepared by the teacher and other sources outside the school. Learning innovations carried out are complementary to every learning material from other sources such as the internet, library books, and various other sources that might be obtained outside of school, so that students can still complete their needs for existing learning material.

Sources of learning and technology

There are several learning modules that can be obtained from the government as an additional source of learning. In addition, the computer provided by the school is also an additional alternative for teachers and students to get the learning material. For complete learning, the teacher still uses the blackboard and some handbooks for learning.

Authentic assessment

For authentic assessment, students will be given quizzes and daily assignments that must be done by the students, there are also homework assignments that must be collected the next day. Students usually take advantage of their free time to do shared tasks, so students will be easier and better understand the tasks given. The teacher also gives very clear assignments to provide understanding to students, and usually the results of the tasks that students have done will be discussed together as a reflection and evaluation material.

School: General Information and Academic Administration

Horas all !! eits for those who don't know, "Horas" is a greeting from our home region, Medan. At this time I will share my experience during the Sea Teacher program from SEAMEO. Hayoo, you must have been interested to know, hihigg. Well, right, first, I will talk about the school that I went to while in the Philippines, namely the Mindoro State Laboratory High School. Lets check it out!

Mindoro State Laboratory High School is one of the well-known schools in the Philippines, especially on the island of Mindoro. MinSCAT has 3 campuses, namely in Victoria, Bongabong and Calapan. By working in the vocational field, the main focus of this school is agriculture and technology. This time we will discuss about the school where I was placed, namely the school led by Dr. Levi B. Arago, located in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

Academic support system

The Mindoro state laboratory high school is located within the same area as Mindoro State College, which means the school is free to use various shared facilities that are shared in it, such as libraries, school halls, computer laboratories, chemical laboratories, biology laboratories, gyms, and there are also a number of dormator for student residence.

Teaching system

Teaching and learning activities will begin at 07.30 A.M. and will end at 5:00 p.m. Each lesson only has one hour of study time every day and is done at the same time. We will meet different activities on Friday, on this day students will not carry out learning activities as in general, but they will carry out various activities in accordance with what the teacher instructed, such as repeating lessons, cleaning classes, reflecting learning outcomes, or studying for exam preparation.

Materials and other learning sources

One of the disadvantages seen in this school is the absence of learning books that facilitate students. For learning resources, sometimes students borrow books from the library and buy themselves outside the scope of the school, and for the teaching guide the teachers prepare material from the syllabus and the internet.

Measurement and evaluation system

There are 4 exams that must be passed by students in one level, because schools divide learning time into 4 quarters. Each quarter has its own test, but for determining the grade increase there will be a final quarter which will then be accumulated in the other quarter.

Teaching plan (of your major)

There are 3 teaching plans in this school. Namely, daily lesson logs, semi-detailed Learning Plans, and detailed lesson plans. For new postgraduate teachers until the third school year, they will use the Detail Learning Plan. For expert teachers, they only use daily lesson logs.
Daily lessons only record forms that fill students' material and objectives.
The semi-detailed learning plan is a lesson plan that summarizes teacher activities and evaluations for students.
The detail of the lesson plan is a lesson plan that summarizes the teacher's activities and student activities.

Summary and Suggestions

Horas !! this time I'm a little sad because this will be my last writing about the experience of participating in the Sea Teacher program. But don't be discouraged, because the writing this time is no less interesting than the previous one, even the last one is the peak, hihig. What do you think about it? let's take a look at yourself huh

Purpose of practicum

As far as I understand the purpose and purpose of this program is to train student teachers to get different teaching experiences, namely far from their home countries, meet and exchange and learn culture with people - new people, train and sharpen their mentality to be ready to become teachers professionals who will later be able to produce quality students, as well as establish good cooperation with neighboring countries that actively participate in this Sea Teacher program.

Procedures of practicum

From the beginning when we will take part in this program, our representatives from each campus are selected first to find the best candidates to be sent to follow the program that will be carried out. After going through several stages of selection, we are directed by SEAMEO through online videos about whatever obligations we must carry out during the program, such as the notes that we must guard, assignments while becoming students teachers in the recipient country, and assignments that we must collect after returning to the country of origin, namely Blog Report.

While at the destination campus, before starting our activities, we conduct the opening event first, which is attended by the campus rector and the responsible coordinator, then we are directed and guided by the receiving campus to carry out our teaching program together with the appointed coordinator. Many interesting things happen like meeting professional teachers who are fairly young, interacting with students there, as well as other activities that add to our insight while teaching there. After the core activities were finished, we held a closing event, in addition to the campus holding a tour for us before we were finally sent back to our home countries right after 30 days there.

Outcomes of practicum

There are so many results that I can get while undergoing this program, I am confused about where to start. But I will try to share with you all about the results that I got.

First, of course the teaching experience that you will never get while in your home country. We are required to do our best to the maximum possible extent to be able to teach and deal with students with a culture that is very different from ours, namely students from other countries. Of course we have to adjust the teaching methods in that area so that students can understand it there. What is certain is that our experience and teaching abilities have increased quite high.

Second, the mentality that is inside us is honed. Facing people in different countries with different cultures, not to mention the demands of being an emissary who carries the name of the country of origin, makes us mentally develop to be able to face all the doubts and sensations that exist within us. Not only that, dexterity and independence will also increase by themselves along with feeling far from family.

Third, learn about new cultures, disseminate relationships and meet new people. There, we met many Indonesians but came from different regions, such as meeting eastern people for example. The multitude of cultures that unite into one makes us rich in culture, and knows more types of people. One unforgettable and very memorable experience, even a distant person who we did not know initially could become a family.

The challenges of practicum

In carrying out this program, of course we face a lot of challenges that are waiting for us to be conquered, but don't be afraid guys because the existing chalanges will improve our ability to develop better, I will share this little bit for friends as a motivational material hehe .

The first is the shock cultures that we found. Visiting new areas with very different cultures certainly requires us to be able to adapt to the existing culture. Like life style and food, a number of different styles shocked me at the beginning. And the hardest for me is about food, wahh this one is rather difficult, my friends, because my weight dropped because the taste was not suitable for him hehe.

The second is how to deal with new people. Of course, the speaking style of the Indonesian people is different from the people of the Philippines, although there is no problem in using the language that is using English, but we are required to behave and have an attitude that is in accordance with the culture there. The main thing is not to bring a culture that is not appropriate, guys, fearing that there will be division with the people we go to.

Overall impression

Wow, this is a lot that I tell about my impressions and impressions. First of all, I want to say a big thank you to my parents who have supported and facilitated me in joining this program, the second I say thank you to the campus who gave me the opportunity to go represent the campus in this program.

I also express my gratitude to the campus recipients who have served us very well, especially to the coordinator, I thank you for everything you have done to comfort us while there in the campus.
Moreover, I would also like to thank my comrades in arms who joined me in joining this program together, there we shared everything. We share knowledge, share shelter, share food, share stories, share joys and sorrows, and help each other in various difficulties. They are the family that I got while I was there.

Finally, thank you to all parties involved in this program, the most special of course I addressed the SEAMEO party because they have organized this program so we can follow it.

Suggestions for future improvement

My hope in the future for this program is to increase the number of countries participating in this program, and to place various countries to join in one campus to enrich our relationships. Furthermore, it is also to extend the duration of the program activities, as well as provide more directed direction and guidance on what should be done while running this program.

Teaching Practice

Horas !! there was something exciting guys at our discussion this time. What do you think about it? This time I will discuss about this teaching experience, of course you will not get this experience in our country Indonesia. For friends who want to teach abroad, let's read this story hopefully after that it's motivated to go international, hehe ..

It is truly an unforgettable time in the teaching experience that I did in this school. At first I met and met me they looked interested and enthusiastic, we said we were acquainted. They asked a lot of questions about my country, Indonesia, and I responded to them and then also asked a lot about the Philippines. The first time we spent with jokes and a long introduction to each other, they even asked to see what items I brought from Indonesia, then I gave them like Indonesian money, then they were surprised by the high value of the currency written on Rupiah. They also told about their teacher from Indonesia at SeaTeacher Batch 5.

The following days our teaching and learning activities were quite familiar. I was given the mandate to teach English in 8th grade, starting at 10-11 AM. Before teaching, I was obliged to fill in the DLL for then I gave to my tutor teacher whether it was appropriate or not, I was also obliged to prepare various learning media that I needed in accordance with the material, including paper media and electronic media such as infokus.

In the classroom during my learning I tried to build an interesting teaching and learning atmosphere. Almost the same as in my country, Indonesia, learning begins with greeting the students, then continues with prayer. Before entering into the material, I asked in advance about the previous lesson and also whether there was a homework assignment. After a brief discussion about homework assignments and yesterday's lessons, then I begin to introduce the lessons that will be discussed today first and then start teaching the learning material. I usually fill in teaching and learning activities with grub discussions, and assignments and quizzes at the end of learning, then give homework.

Day after day the same takes place every day, except on Friday there will be reflection activities on learning and other activities in accordance with what was instructed by the teacher. Other activities will also occur when students will face an exam, students will be freed from doing the same learning activities, completing notes, and asking about lessons they have not understood so far, they are free to do it all both inside and outside the classroom.
